So, wife and I traded my beloved GTI Autobahn (4dr, MT, 2012 w/36k) for a 2012 XC90 w/ certified warranty, 59k miles, premier plus package. Not my car, but exact match above.
Not as “trucky” as I wanted, but Toyota doesn’t do it for me (except Landcruiser...but $$), Jeep GC models we wanted were too much money, a white LandRover LR3
almost
happened, but didn’t because #reliability.
It’s super comfortable, really fits our lifestyle in the PNW these days - road trips, mountain/skiing trips, camping, sleeping w/ full fold-flat seats, AWD, etc.
Any advice/comments? I negotiated a tint for front windows - 70% just for the slightest touch of sleekness and UV protection. I’m also thinking of switching the alloys to R design.

Nice and comfy machines, never really had any complaints about the 2007 XC90 my mom had. Maybe just wished the 6 had more power

Looking at a 2012 XC70 this week (hopefully). What engine does yours have? The one I’m looking at has the 3.2 (na) straight six.

A little bit of trickery involved with negotiating up trade in value and adding some installs, but just under 22 before tax/fees. If I didn’t get the increase in trade in value I got it’d prob be closer to 20? Bought in Tacoma, WA

Dayum, thats great, and completely in my budget. I need to start looking at these. Bummer about their CPO warrantee being from date of first sale though. Sure its 100k miles but its still only 7 years from date of sale. I.e. if yours was bought in 2011, next year its out of warrantee.

Yeah, I was honestly surprised with what they gave me on trade-in and what i got tacked on to the overall sale. Really honest dealer & I’d work with them again - Volvo/Jag/LandRover/Lexus of Tacoma.
Yes, you’re right w/ warranty. Fortunately it’s ‘12 sale and w/ the mileage it’s not that dissimilar from my previous two CPO deals w/ VW (2 yr, 24k)

They eliminated the 8 cylinder for 2012 so I’m stuck with the 3.2 -I’m unsure what I think of it. It’s not powerful, but it’s smooth and you eventually get the power you need. Sometimes slow to downshift, but that’s prob just in line with it being a comfortably tuned tranny that’s not trying to blow anyone away.

Agreed. It ain’t terrible and it’s smooth...but it’s certainly not powerful.

Lolol of course. I was actually thinking of making the fogs yellow. Now I just might. Torn between the R wheels hat look like fan blades (with black) or the subdued 5 spoke.

Yep, the transmissions are ehhhh in these cars. I’ve just recently upgraded from a 2.4 V50 to a T6 Polestar-tuned XC70, and even with all the power it still takes a split second or two for the six-speed to figure out what it wants to do in life. Great, great, prodigious passing power once it’s locked into a single gear, though. Haven’t timed it yet, but 45-60 happens faster than you can blink an eye, and once you let off the throttle, the T6 has this cute little turbo-blow off noise. It’s surprisingly entertaining from a two-ton AWD mommy wagon.
